**WELCOME TO OUR 2011 SHOW NEWS**

DECEMBER
2011 The 2011 NRHA Futurity was an awesome show where Mike
did a great job making the Open finals on all 3 of his futurity horses! He made
the top 30 out of over 400 horses on Harley Surprise Lena for Raynald Rodrigue, Nu Dreams to Cash
for Ron and Ruth Varner and Guntinis Gold Smoke for Chip and Renee Stoneman. We
really enjoyed seeing everyone and spending time with some of our closest
friends and clients. We are now looking forward to 2012! Congratulations and
good luck to everyone who purchased horses from us at the futurity also.
OCT
OBER
2011 Mike, Nathalie, Mel and Sarah went to the Ohio Quarter Horse
Congress in Columbus, Ohio.
Mike showed Raynald Rodrigue's Harley Surprize
Lena in the Open Futurity and had a great run in the go-round to end up 2nd
overall securing a place in the finals. In the finals, Mike made Raynald very proud
and very excited by scoring 224 to take first place and become Congress
Open Futurity Champion winning the $25,000 first prize! Mike's
daughter Sarah also showed in the cutting and earned 6th place in the very
competitive youth 14-18 class.
SEPTEMBER
2011 Mike, Nathalie, Gil and Sarah went
to the EPRHA
show in New Jersey and Mike won the Open futurity on Ron and Ruth Varner's Nu
Dreams To Cash winning the $7000 added class and a bronze trophy for owners Ron and Ruth
who purchased this mare from us as a yearling. Gil also had a nice run on
Kenneth and Deana Nell's Wimpys Lil Secret to score
216.5 on this mare who was bred at the farm and had just been purchased by
Kenneth and Deana. Gil placed 4th in the $3000 added Level 2 Futurity.
AUGUST
2011 Mike reunited and showed Hot Smokin Chex, a stallion he
trained and won the 2004 congress and also finished 3rd in the NRHA
Open Futurity in 04, This time the show was Americana which took place in Augsburg, Germany. Mike
did a demo with Smokey and showed him in the Open at this popular event which
draws a big crowd. Mike made the finals and then went onto score 223.5 in the
finals for 3rd place. Mike and Nathalie had also gone to the UK the week before
for a clinic and wanted to thank everyone for ensuring that their trip went so
well.
JULY 2011
Mike had a great run on Chip and R
enee Stoneman's gelding Guntinis Gold Smoke to
win the SERHA Open Futurity with a score of 146.5. He also won money on Ron And
Ruth Varner's physical mare Nu Dreams To Cash. Melony Jackson won the
Level 3 Non Pro Futurity on her own Boomin So
lano and Teresa Ebersberger won the
Intermediate Non Pro Ancillary class on her Nics Dream Command. All four of the
horses mentioned were made by Nathalie at the farm!
MAY 2011
Team McEntire attended the Carolina Classic Derby in Williamston, NC and Mike
made the finals on Suzette Hahn's Stars Painted Wave. He went on to have a
fantastic run in the finals getting 3rd with a 224.5. Teresa Ebersberger also
made the Non Pro finals on her gelding Nics Dream Command and she had recently
purchased this horse from us. Nathalie is unfortunately still partaking in
breeding season and was unable to attend the show with her superstar horse Leanorima (full sister to Masterima).
APRIL 2011 Mike went to the
SERHA Spring show along with assistants Gil and Nathan. He was 3rd in the Novice
Horse Open class on Duke Dygert's Gunnin For Gems and 4th in the Open Derby on
Steve Rouse's Found By Mistress. Mike's daughter Sarah also did well showing her
new gelding Mr Soto Cielo.
FEBRUARY 2011 Mike, Nathalie,
Mel, Jeremie and Nathan headed to sunny Florida for the Florida Classic Derby.
Mike did well with Jimmy Pierce's Wimpys Little Jay to get 2nd in the Novice
Horse Class and Nathalie was 3rd in the Level 1 and 2 Non Pro Derby on her own
Leanorima. Nathan won Levels 1 and 2 in the Open Derby on Mike and Nathalie's
Nics Dream Command who has now been bought by Teresa Ebersberger. Nathan was
also Level 3 Derby Reserve Champion also on Nic putting this horse's earnings
over $12,000.
NRHA FUTURITY 2010
Mike had one of his best
futurities ever and ended up OPEN RESERVE FUTURITY
CHAMPION on Dave Evans' Red Stripe Spook. Mike had an amazing run in the finals
to score 226 1/2 on this talented son of Smart Spook. Nathan Morton qualified
for the Level 1 and 2 finals on Mike and Nathalie's Nics Dream Command finishing
an excellent 8th in Level 1 and 11th in Level 2. It was fantastic to see
everyone at the futurity and we'd like to t
hanks all of our customers and the
team at McEntire for their support throughout this show and the rest of 2010. We
are very much looking forward to 2011 and starting our yearlings. We are also
looking forward to continuing the training on our 2 coming 3 year olds and
showing them later in the year in addition to our Derby and older horses.
NOVEMBER 2010
The Carolina Classic Fall Futurity was held in Williamston, NC and this was our
last local show of the year. Mike did very well and placed top 5 in the ABI Open
with Nathalie's Leanorima. Assistant Nathan had some great runs too and won
Level 2 Open ABI Futurity with Mike and Nathalie's Nics Dream Command. He also
placed well with Steve and Stephanie Rouse's Found by Mistress.
OCTOBER 2010
The All American Quarter Horse Congress started October 2nd and Mike, Nathalie,
Judith and Mel travelled to Columbus, Ohio for our annual Congress trip. Mike
made it back to the finals with Jimmy Pierce's Wimpys Little Jay and Carol
McCurry's Certified Custom out of just under 100 horses. He had an outstanding
run on Wimpys Little Jay to get 217 1/2 in the finals and achieve 4th place. He
also got a very good 7th place on Certified Custom and won just under $9000 on
both horses. Mel also made it to the Non Pro and Intermediate Non Pro finals
where she got 7th and 8th with her own Conquistadorscowgirl. We had a great trip
and look forward every year to Congress (especially Nathalie!).
SEPTEMBER 2010
Mike, Nathalie, Gil and
Judith left for the EPRHA Futurity in New Jersey where
Mike won the Open futurity on Jimmy Pierce's Wimpys Little Jay after a great
run. Gil showed Chris Neeld's A Lotta Whiskey and Gabi Flad's Brudder Rey to a
2nd/3rd place split in the Level 2 Futurity closely followed by Judith Vetter on
Castel McEntire Partnership's Ms Montana Chic. Non Pros Suzette Hahn on
her own Stars Painted Wave and Victor Gilson on his own Ima Whiskey Lena also
both won money in the Non Pro Futurity and congratulations to everyone.
Nathan Morton travelled North to
Columbus, Ohio where he showed Nics Dream Command for Mike and Nathalie at The
Tradition. He had a very nice run in the Open Futurity to place top 5 in a very
competitive Level 1 and 2 class.
Mike, Nathalie, Mel and Jeremie travelled to Oklah
oma for the Oklahoma Reining
Horse Association Futurity held at the modern facilities in Tulsa. Mike had
a great run showing Dave Evans' horse Red Stripe Spook for the first time to
score a 224 1/2 and get 5th in the very competitive Open Futurity. Nathalie also
did very well and got 5th in the Ltd Non Pro on her own home bred mare Leanorima. Mel
had a nice run on her mare Conquistadorscowgirl to get 5th in the Int Non Pro
and 11th in the Non Pro. Everyone was very happy with their performances and we
are looking forward to Congress!
AUGUST 2010
Dixie Reining Horse Association held the
ir
reining futurity in Perry GA and
Mike did very well getting. He got Reserve Level 4 Open Futurity Champion on
Carol McCurry's Certified Custom and also third on Suzette Hahn's Stars Painted
Wave. Assistant Nathan Morton was Level 1, 2 and 3 Open Futurity Champion on
Mike and Nathalie's Nics Dream Command which was an outstanding achievement. Non
Pro Victor Gilson won some good money on his own daughter of
Smarty Pep Whiskey,
Ima Whiskey Star who is a very nice mare. Mike was also both Level 1 and 2
Novice Horse Open Champion on Carol McCurry's Chics Big Star.
JULY 2010
Our first futurity of the year was held by SERHA in Williamston and Team
McEntire had a very successful show. Mike placed very well in the Open Futurity
on Jimmy Pierce's Wimpys Little Jay and Steve Rouse's Found By Mistress. Mike
was also Novice Horse Open Champion on Friday with Carol McCurry's Chics Big
Star. Assistant Gilad Susman won money in the futurity with Kevin and
Tracey
Showman's Dun Gotta Ten and also Suzette Hahn's Stars Painted Wave. Nathalie won
the Level 1 and 2 Non Pro Futurity with her own mare Leanorima and Mel Jackson
won Level 3 with her own Conquistadorscowgirl. Chris Neeld had some good runs in
the Rookie and Green on her Baroom Jazz and Smarty Pep Whiskey as did Carol
McCurry on her mare Chics Big Star. This was a great show for everyone and we
all had a lot of fun.
MAY 2010 The Virginia
Reining Horse Association held their annual Memorial Day Show in Williamston,
NC. Mike won and was placed in several classes on Mary Jane Simpson's Paddies
Irish Lace. He was really pleased with the way she showed and is looking forward
to showing her again after her vacation back with Mary Jane.
Mike had a good show at the Carolina
Classic in Williamston, NC and got two horses back to the Open Derby finals, Ann
Zambarano's Miss Ruf Hollywood and Victor Gilson's Gunner Royale. Mike also
placed 2nd in the Novice Horse Open on Mary Jane Simpson's Paddies Irish Lace.
APRIL
2010 SERHA held their Spring Show and Mike had a good day. He was
Novice Horse Open Champion on Marian Murray's Spooky Whizard and Reserve
Champion in the Derby on Ann Zambarano's Miss Ruf Hollywood.
MARCH
2010 Mike did well at the Wimpys Little Step Derby and Gordyville Breeders
Cup on Chris Neeld's Baroom Gunslinger. He won money in all the sections of the
Derby and was happy with these results.
